School fees for 10 children in the Tigray region
Project target £94
posted by: British Red Cross
You can help 10 children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV access education in Tigray region, in northern Ethiopia. £94 can help us pay for their school fees.
The British Red Cross, in partnership with the Ethiopian Red Cross, is working on a project to help reduce HIV prevalence in the country and its impact in the community. One of the core elements of the project is to reduce the vulnerability of orphans by allowing them to continue their education. This year the aim is to provide school fees for up to 30 young people in the Tigray region. Help us make this possible.
According to UNAIDS, an estimated 40.3 million people globally are living with HIV. The numbers of people living with HIV continue to rise, in some countries to levels once believed impossible.
In Ethiopia alone, approximately 1.3 million people are living with HIV and 128,900 new infections reported in 2005. It is a considerable threat to the country’s future. Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world and faces a huge task providing treatment, care and support to affected households.
You can help us make a real difference.
