St Barnabus Primary : every penny matters: September 2010

Children at St Barnabus Primary School, Barnetby-le-Wold, North Lincolnshire are determined to make sure that every penny that they raise counts.

Two of SAN's Trustees recently received this letter from one of the children:

"After your visit to our school earlier this term, our teacher (Mr E) thought that it would be a good idea for us as a class to save up our 1's, 2's and 5 pence to buy a tractor for a village based in Bangladesh. If it is not enough we are ever so sorry because we have all tried to save up as much as we can and have asked our grandparents and parents to help.

The amount that we have is £25.00. We are ever so sorry if this amount is not enough but we are all trying our hardest to make £60 or more so that the people can buy a tractor.

We hope that the amount we make is going to be OK.

Best wishes,
Lucy"

The SAN Trustees wrote back:

"Dear Mr E, Lucy and the class,

Thank you so much for your cheque for £25 to pay for a tractor in a village in Bangladesh. You must have saved really hard to get this amount of money and I am sure that you had a huge pile of coins.

We are very grateful to all of you, including your parents and grandparents who also helped. This money will be put with other money, which we have sent to Bangladesh, and there will be enough money to buy a tractor.

We are hoping that we shall have some photographs of the village (called Fatepur) so that you can see the people there.

Your efforts make such a big difference to the lives of the people in the village and you should be proud of what you are doing to help them.

Thank you very much."
