DECOn 2 May 2008 at 16.00 local time, Cyclone Nargis ripped across the coast of Myanmar (also known as Burma), bringing misery and devastation to tens of thousands of people.

The scale of this disaster is enormous. Many thousands have lost their lives and one million people have been affected.

DEC members are on the ground and are providing immediate relief distributing plastic sheeting, tarpaulins and essential food aid and clean drinking water.
